The Committee on Vision 2020 had been constituted by the Planning Commission in June, 2000, under chairmanship of Dr. S.P. Gupta, for crystallising the country’s vision for the future in the year 2020. The document also examines problems related to human development, food security, employment, education, health, urban development, rural infrastructure, telecom, transport, energy and the environment, power, renewable energy, air quality, water management, land, forest and biodiversity, globalisation, peace, security and governance.
